His legacy will be that he was the worst president in our nation's history for 29 years, until Obama took that title from him. Now as he comes to the end of his life he'll die as the third worst behind Obama and Biden.... Carter did a lot after being president but he still had some of the biggest crooks as his close friends. One of his very best friends died last Sunday at 96 yrs old. The guy was one of Carter's lifelong advisors and was the biggest lowlife crook that I've ever met personally.

I've been to Carter's childhood home where he was born and grew up. They had a tennis court at his house with a windmill driven well pump that pumped the water to his house. I've been to the school that he attended as a boy and as a teen. Been to the stores where his brother Billy bought beer, been all over Plains,Ga Been by the house where he lives, been to the church where he taught sunday school,,,,Best part of Plains is the peanut butter ice cream that is sold there.

Carter was the reason why my parents turned from democrats to republicans. My parents couldn't support a governor with no morals or values and the dumbocrat party was so racist that they could no longer support the party.

Martin is right, even if the tone is a bit harsh. Carter was an excellent ex-president, despite that little incident when half the board at the Carter Foundation resigned, accusing him of anti-Semitism. But he was a terrible president. We got double-digit inflation, double-digit interest rates, double-digit unemployment, the Iran hostage crisis, and other disasters. We had an energy shortage, to which his only solutions were to nationalize the problem with a Cabinet department and to wear a sweater. It was not a good time for America. But Carter seems to be a good person -- unlike the current president -- and he has lived a full life and a life of service.
