Except that polls consistently showed large majorities of Native Americans were not offended. The most common adjective they chose to express their freelings was "proud." This wa another case of white people telling a minority group what does and does not offend that group.

There is a high school in Arizona called Red Mesa High School. it is on the Navajo reservation and it's student body is 98% Navajo.

The Red Mesa athletic teams are called the Red Mesa Redskins.
