I'm not sure. He's too much a creature of habit.

Tonite's final inning is one example..Why bring in the closer in that situation? Why bring in Bautista in that situation when you're up by 6 runs w/2 outs? He'd had only 1 day's rest after pitching Sunday. And he mite be needed tomorrow.I also saw Hyde run Lopez out there in games where they had a decent-sized lead and could have used someone else.I am afraid Hyde will keep running Bautista out there and burn him out.

And he insisted on continually using .200-hitting Odor behind his good hitters even when Urias was hitting well.Odor s/hit before Mateo.He keeps running that guy out there game after game and giving away outs.Vavra plays second, you know, and can replace Odor.Hyde has other favorites too-like McKenna, who simply has not hit that well.These guys are rally killers. It didn't matter before but now, with a playoff spot at stake, giving away 8 outs per game can be fatal.Vavra has a career .400+ on-base average.Hyde has to 1) keep him in the lineup and 2) bat him near the top of the order and maybe bat Rutsch third.

But he seems just too slow to see this, if he ever does.In some ways, he reminds me of Hargrove.

Elias' moves are questionable too.Why send out Diaz and keep Phillips and McKenna? Why get him at all?

I like Hyde and think they should hang on to him. He has done a good job with the hand that has been dealt to him.

He seems kind of okay.

I have no clue why they picked up Phillips. He's a weak stick, very weak. His defense might be very good, but Hayes, Mullins, Santander, even McKenna are all capable outfielders.

We have Odor, McKenna, Phillips and Chirinos who add little or nothing to the team, hitting-wise.

But it occurs to me that the Warehouse doesn't want to dump them and promote their top prospects like Henderson, Stowers and Westburg because they may not be ready yet. Plus, some people already in place are doing well enough to stay in the lineup and promoting more would put good guys on the bench wasting away. This issue w/b resolved during the off-season I imagine, but right now, everybody is playing and that may be the best option, particularly for the kids down on the farm.

Henderson and The Burg are outhitting the snot out of Odor and The Cheetah. So's McKenna for that matter, vs Phillips. Elias remains true to his word about not chasing the title.

Vavra's kinda the Ruthian wildcard. He is the king of turds right now.
