May 11: Ryan Mountcastle (left wrist) scratched, considered day to day
Mountcastle was removed from the starting lineup for Wednesday's tilt in St. Louis with left wrist soreness -- something he's played through for a few days, but he ultimately woke up in greater discomfort. Manager Brandon Hyde opted to give his first baseman, originally slotted in at the designated hitter's spot, the night off with the hope he can avoid a stint on the injured list. But the Orioles are in a precarious position with just a three-man bench and both Mountcastle and Ramón Urías (abdominal discomfort) likely unavailable for the time being. Catcher Anthony Bemboom will serve as the only healthy bench option until the others return to full health.
