ccording to sources from the Journal de Montréal, an important meeting should take place very soon in Tampa to finalize the agreement between the Montreal Group and Stuart Sternberg. An announcement could take place after the November 7 municipal elections regarding the marriage of Expos and Rays, who would sometimes play in Tampa, sometimes in the Quebec metropolis, in shared guard.
Quebec's Minister of Economy Pierre Fitzgibbon wants to breathe back into downtown Montreal, not least by promoting the economy of the metropolis. The Minister aims to deploy actions to facilitate the return of workers to downtown and enhance the attractiveness of the area, including signature creative projects such as the return of Major Baseball to Montreal.
Fitzgibbon promises to study any economic project without any preconceived idea. It is open to the possibility of contributing financially to the project of a new ball park at Peel Basin.
Currently, with health constraints limiting the return of workers to towers, the revival of downtown Montreal's commercial activities remains very fragile. However, today we can make decisions that will have a positive impact over the next few months and years.
