If Zimmerman plays close to the level of his prime and Bell keeps hitting do we move one for a third baseman? I assume that neither of them can play any position other than first and DH.

Davey seems pretty committed to keeping older guys like Zimm to 300 ab's or less, so I think they need to keep Bell (great strategy in 2019 because it kept old men Howie and Zimm fresh for the playoff/WS run). And since Zimm is Mr National I doubt Rizz would deal him, unless some club made him an offer he couldnt refuse.

There's alot of fans who want to move on from Kieboom, but I think the Nats need to be patient with 1st round talent guys who have a major upside, especially if they think they can "fix" him.

When does Turner's deal expire? If they cant re-sign him then maybe you use Kieboom & Garcia to fill 2b and SS ? Hopefully by then both players will be more seasoned, etc.

Definitely lots of rest paid off big for Hendrick but I'm more of a mind to play Zimmerman as much as possible when he's hitting. With the year off he might be fully healthy for the first time in a long time, but if he isn't we might as well get as many at bats from him as we can while he's able. No chance of Zimmerman being traded.

Kieboom I could see getting traded. Seven years of team control for a once promising prospect for a rental third baseman from a team not contending this year.

Turner has one more season after this one before he's a free agent. I'd be fine with trading him, it would not be popular with the fan base but Rizzo doesn't give a crap about that. It would be very unusual for the Nats, they let Zimmermann, Harper, and Desmond all walk after their final season rather than trading them. Not having a solid third baseman right now makes is really tough to move our shortstop even if we wanted to.

I'm fine with them not trading Turner, only because they have all those starting pitchers who can take you real deep into the playoffs.

Lindor just got a $350 million contact. If Turner dreams of getting that much we can find someone else to play short after the next couple seasons.

The Mets owner came in spending big, hopefully that backfires and they get stuck with some bad contracts. On the other hand Mets fans have to be happy to not have to go through what the Lerners did to Nats fans those first few years.

If Trea proves that he can put up the same numbers as he did last season...that's a tough call about whether or not to wave him goodbye. The problem with guys like him is that they want long term contracts that take them into their mid-late 30's, when they become dead weight.

Boswell said a year or so ago that he thinks Turner's not long for DC anyway because he's like Rendon, he's not that fond of DC. But who knows. If Boswell says something quite often the opposite happens anyway.
