What scrub teams do in a regular year. With another covid season looming, I'd expect more of a race to the bottom than usual. You can't sell any beer, the tv revenue is pretty set, and you get better draft picks. Why try, if you're a small hands market?

My hunch is that the Angelos brothers are getting ready to sell the Orioles, basically as soon as their father dies. They can't do it before then because the capital gains taxes would be horrendous. Peter bought the Orioles for $173 million. They're now estimated to be worth more than a billion dollars. But once he dies, his sons (I'm assuming they will inherit his interest n the O's) will get a "stepped up basis" and won't owe a penny in capital gains taxes. In the meantime, they're going to get the payroll down as low as possible. I know they deny they have any plans to sell, but they'd almost have to say that.

There was a lot of talk last summer that they were considering a new lease at Camden Yards, but since then I've heard nothing. Has anybody else heard any news on that front?

We don't even know why our first round draft pick can't actually play baseball. Or that Baumann probably needs elbow surgery. Wouldn't they get nailed with a pretty hefty inheritance tax?
