Man that was real football -- low scoring game with 2 defenses dominating. Old school. Loved it. Lots of drops by receivers on both sides but oh well. Alex Smith with a sliced leg and blood dripping out and he doesn't give a sh!t about it. Dude is one tough muthah.

Comments about Chase Young by Boswell from his Q&A's last month:

Most of the super-high-pick edge rushers have big impact immediately. That's not a good sign for Young...I suspect I've spent far more time analyzing every snap of Chase Young's season than most of the experts you'll see or hear commenting...My assumption is that Young will steadily get better and may even eventually be as good as his boosters already think he is. But for now, my goal is to "get it right," not "get it flashiest" --which means I don't think he's a star or a bust, just a good and VERY promising player.

Promoting Martinez to get fired. Claiming Rivera was delusional in October to believe WFT could be good or win the East. And now this nonsense about Chase Young.

DC sports fans need Boswell to write pissy columns now about the Wiz and Caps.

In a single game, a defensive lineman for Washington causes a fumble (that led to a WFT score), returns another fumble for a TD, gets a a sack, has 6 tackles, and makes some pass deflections, including that big one in the 4Q........trying to remember the last time one of our lineman had a dominating game like that. The 80's? Never?

Dexter Manley in the playoff games against Dallas and Chicago come to mind.

Chase Young single handedly won that game for us, a dominating performance, although our entire defensive line is a strong unit.

I just hope our offense returns next week, they only scored six points and three of those were off a turnover in field goal range. I know Haskins took a lot of heat for throwing the late pick but I thought he was throwing the ball with more confidence than Smith. The main thing is that we need Gibson back. We are too thin at the skill positions to be missing one of our top guys.

Looked at the stats for a couple games: the SB win over Miami (Manley strip sack), the Dallas game when Dexter KO'd Danny White, the Chicago game playoff game in '88. Couldn't find any lineman that matches what CY did. I even looked at players who weren't lineman: Sean Taylor's 2 INT and caused fumble against GB was great, so too was Darrell Green's return for a TD against Chicago in the '88 playoff game...but still cant find a game where any defender dominated like CY.

Read somewhere that the wind chill factor for that '88 playoff game in Chicago was minus 20! Forgot about that!!

ok, maybe I stand corrected. No sacks for Dexter then, but he KO'd Danny White in that NFC Championship game, and he deflected that Hogeboom pass that Grant returned for a TD. Maybe not MORE dominant than what CY did, but surely it's up there, especially in lieu of the significance of the game.

A couple pretty legendary games from Manley, the "no Danny no" game to beat the hated Cowboys. The one I'll always remember is the one where Ditka said that Manley had the brain of a grapefruit and claimed that he was only a pass rusher, that he couldn't stop the run, so by the 4th quarter Dexter was screaming at the Bears sideline "run it at me", they did and he stuffed them.

Ideal case for tonight jump off to a big early lead, then rest Smith, McLaurin, and Gibson. Should be an easy win with the Eagles injuries. But who ever knows with the Redskins.

That went differently than I expected. But now we face Tom Brady in round one. We beat the Steelers, we can beat the Bucs.
