I'm really disappointed in the Pirates offseason. They lost Walker, Bastardo and Alvarez plus Burnett and Ramirez retired.
The players that they've traded for or signed are not that good.Sure they couldn't afford to sign a big name free agent for Chris Davis type money, but there were deals out there that they passed on.
I was hoping for a decent trade to bring a first baseman back. It hasn't happened and Josh Bell hasn't shown the power or defense to play first base in the near future.
The bullpen is another area where they should've added. I do believe that Glasnow will be the real deal and help the starting rotation, but the others from the farm system have major question marks.
Last year may have been their last chance to compete, because they didn't make the moves this offseason to set up talent for the near future. My expectations for this year are low... real low.
