Just can't believe we have gone from the high of the Cubs winning the World Series to this in so little time.

So, so, saddened.

Quote:
Rizzo, who had been one of Espinosa?s biggest supporters since he helped draft him out of Long Beach State in 2008, continued to praise the 29-year-old infielder, who hit 92 homers and played stellar defense for the Nationals since his debut in September 2010, but hit only .226 while striking out in 28 percent of his career at-bats.

?He is what he is,? Rizzo said. ?He?s a good major league player that?s got power, speed. Good defensive player. Plays every day. Played hard. Gave it 100 percent every time out there. I have no beef or problem with Danny Espinosa. Never had, and still consider him a good player that gave everything he had every time he played.?

They apparently had plans to replace Espinosa whether or not they got Eaton, and it wasn't just the aborted McCutchen deal, either. The Nationals talked to Texas about Jurickson Profar, but the Rangers wanted Joe Ross.

Clearly not the sentimental type, Espinosa expressed few warm feelings for an organization that toggled him between shortstop and second base for most of his tenure ? except for 2015, when he played five different positions in a super-utility role ? and where something always seemed to be holding him back.

He can gripe all he wants to, but the fact remains....The guy whiffs every 3rd AB and is a career Mendoza Line hitter. Buh-bye.

Espinosa?s glaring weakness: a career 3.77-to-1 strikeout to walk ratio, fueled by an NL-high 189 strikeouts in 2012 and 174 strikeouts in 601 plate appearances last season. On a new team that places a heavy emphasis on contact, Espinosa is making adjustments to lower that rate.

?We?ve already addressed it,? Angels hitting coach Dave Hansen said. ?It?s something he wants to get better at. He knows that?s the difference, because if he already has the pop, what?s not allowing him to use the pop consistently? That?s usually discipline around the plate.?

Hansen is working with Espinosa to refine his pre-pitch movements and path through the ball and to gain a better understanding of what pitches, in what zones, he can better handle.

?He?s trimmed down some of that swing,? Hansen said. ?It was a lot more violent than it is now.?

http://collider.com/life-daniel-espinosa-interview/

Quote:
With Life now playing in theaters, I recently sat down with director Daniel Espinosa to talk about the film. If you?re not familiar with the sci-fi thriller, Life stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds, Ariyon Bakare, Olga Dihovichnaya, and Hiroyuki Sanada and it revolves around the six-member crew of the International Space Station as they come into contact with the very first evidence of biological life on Mars: a small, single-celled organism. As they begin to research the specimen, however, this ?life? proves far more dangerous than they could have ever imagined. Life was written by Deadpool?s Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese and produced by Skydance?s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg along with Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn.

During the interview Espinosa talked about how none of the characters in Life make dumb movie mistakes, what he learned in test screenings that impacted the finished film, the eight-minute opening shot, how he only shot with one camera and no second unit, the length of his early cuts on films like Easy Money, Safe House and Child 44, and more. In addition, after Espinosa revealed his first cut on Child 44 was 5 hours (!); we spent a lot of time talking about it. Check out what he had to say in the player above and below is what we talked about followed by the official synopsis and the Life red band trailer.
