i am glad. for so long the team didn't ever do anything 'unusual' (good, i mean, not stupid like going to cuba during the season or not having a unified spring training site).

now they know that the world is bigger than aruba.

maybe this works out, maybe it doesn't. but it's definitely proactive and i am ready to see bul go gi on sale at one of the concession stands.

went to a game in korea. it was freakin' fun.

my uncle was there from 1950-1954. a different kind of game. came back w/a silver star, which is almost as good as the brooks robinson statuette i once got at an o's game.

For some context...

Eric Thames was a .305/.383/.508 guy across all minor league levels; hit .250/.296/.431 in MLB; and has put up back to seasons of .343/.422/.688 and .381/.497/.790 in the KBO.

Andy Marte was a .280/.350/.484 guy across all minor league levels; hit .218/.276/.358 in MLB; and put up a .348/.414/.569 season last year in the KBO.

Brett Pill was a .285/.332/.464 guy across all minor league levels; hit .233/.279/.404 in MLB; and has put up back to back seasons of .309/.352/.541 and .325/.372/.517 in the KBO.

Yamaico Navarro hit 64 HRs in 2,707 minor league ABs and hit 79 over the past two seasons in the KBO.

It's not all doom & gloom. More context:

Jung-Ho Kang hit .298/.383/.504 in 9 seasons in the KBO.
Last year, for Pittsburgh, he hit .287/.355/.461 with 15HR in 126 games.

I'd take that for $3.5M/yr. And Kim's a better hitter than Kang based on a decade of each overseas.

He certainly wasn't better in 2014. Kang's numbers were by far the best in the KBO, while you've got to look pretty far down the list to find Kim:

Me too. No complaint if he suks. He can't actually be worse than the triple douche we released last season.

Right, this is a low-risk, high-reward type deal. I think it was definitely worth the gamble.

Jep, I like this much better than Lough, Snider Dahupsefluts or Young from last year.
