Given their plethora of infield talent on the cusp, is it possible that the Orioles should consider moving Jackson Holiday to the outfield? He probably has the talent to do it. And given that talent, Holiday isn't somebody you'd want to trade off as excess. Now mite be the time since he's a couple of years away, anyhow.

I'd vote against it. There are a ton of talented OF in the system already. Overcrowded. Same in the infield. But if he's God's gift to shortstops and can hit, then he's worth a good starting pitcher. Or our second best SS is.
Worst case scenario.

They already have some shortstop talents who can hit; maybe Ortiz is God's gift.

This guy was the best player in the 2022 draft assuming the Orioles were correct in picking him #1.I wouldn't want to trade somebody who could be a franchise-or generational-level talent for 2 years of a Max Scherzer. I'd make that move or one like it, but we have other lights we could use for that.I'd want to keep Holiday long-term just like Rutsch.

I agree with trying him in the outfield. He could still be plugged in at ss, and maybe second and third. Guy's like that have a lot of value.

Don't forget that they moved Robin Yount from short to centerfield and he's in the HOF.

Seth Johnson left shortstop to become a pitcher in college. So did Givens, more or less.

Hopefully Johnson will make a complete recovery from his TJ surgery. He sounds like an interesting prospect.

A worthwhile risk. I was just reading lists of the top millionaire pitchers, who would cost us a draft pick, and the next tier, who wouldn't. I think Elias will keep his pick.
