Happy New Year - 01/01/2022 09:19

Well, we old geezers made it true another year, cool and what a shit year 2021 was.

Al the best for 2022 for you and your loved ones! laugh

BTW, sure not looking forward to another year of non-competitive baseball from the O's whose only goal will be finishing last for next year's first pick. Still flabbergasted that people actually pay to watch that inferior product Mike Elias dears to run out there every night.

I no longer write a single monthly check for bills, so it could be many months before I screw up which year it is.

It'll begin to change this year, Bill.

Re: Happy New Year - 01/01/2022 16:58

Hope so, but we still pick first. There are a bunch of teams to jump over.

If I'm not mistaken, when the Rule 5 draft is finally held, we go first in that too. Out of the top castoffs from the 29 teams ahead of us, there have to be some upgrades to our team available. Bullpen at least.

We do go first. Bullpen arms seem the best bet, although we got Jay Gibbons and Santander thru Rule 5, too.

I forgot Santander was one. His health isn't a skill, or he'd be an all star. Probably indicative of what's there. Enlarged heart guys and such.

Roberto Clemente was a Rule 5.pick too.

BTW, have the Orioles ever gotten a significant pitcher thru R5 w/possible exception of last year?

Phone sucks at copy paste. Wikipedia says Christy Mathewson and Darren O'Day.

Roch ran down the top prospects this morning. We're stacked with hitters. Not so much with pitchers. But it's a start.

Re: Happy New Year - 03/01/2022 12:31

What happened to pitching and defence creates winning baseball. I don't give a fuck if we hit 3 home runs and still lose due to shitty pitching and sloppy defence.

Our GM has an aversion to good pitching. Apparenly he thinks you can never have too many infielders or outfielders. We will continue to suck.

They'll have to trade some. At least they have something worthwhile to trade, now.
